The 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards event was held on Tuesday (October 28) and this year’s ceremony marks 15 years since the first hip-hop awards were given.
Some of the winners were really a surprise for the hip-hop heads while some were too expected to be.
Straight to the point. Megan Thee Stallion took home the Hip Hop Artist of the Year award.
Roddy Ricch secured the prize in the Hip Hop Album of the Year category with his chart-topping “Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial“.
And…Best New Hip Hop Artist goes to the late New York-bred rapper Pop Smoke, deserved for sure.
Other notable Ws at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards were Rapsody, who won in the “Lyricist of the Year” category, Travis Scott with his award in “Best Live Performer”. Also, Future and Drake secured the Best Hip Hop Video award with Life Is Good.
