21 Years Ago Today DMX Drops “Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood”
Rap History: Today (Dec. 22) marks 21 years since the release of DMX‘s second album, “Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood”.
A few months after the debut of “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot” on May 12, the same year, which was nominated four times platinum and already got its 2019 anniversary tour. The “Flesh Of My Flesh…” album hit the market in 1998 on December 22. It was ranked number one and stayed three consecutive weeks, eventually being nominated three times platinum.
Who would deny that 1998 was entirely the year of the dog, this personal achievement makes DMX the only male performer to reach such a high achievement after Tupac, who in the 96′ (February) launches “All Eyez On Me” and later on November 1996 posthumously released “The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory”.
Another curious thing about the subject is that after the release of the first album, Lyor Cohen is betting on DMX that if he writes a second album within thirty days, he will secure a million-dollar bonus. That million was taken just in time, the day Lyor bet, the second album was already half done. Yes, he did it in just a month.
