In a recent interview with The Art Of Dialogue, the platinum songwriter and independent hip hop artist award owner, Delray Richardson talks about the first time he met Tupac in Bowie State University during Tupac and Biggie performance, revealing details about Tupac running into Nas at LL Cool J House Of Blues show in L.A. and the story behind Tupac’s picture in his Hammer waving at the camera a week before his death which had surfaced last year
The interview starts with Delray revealing his story when he first met Tupac, in 1993 when Delray was invited from his friend to attend the show in Bowie State University.
“So we went up there and a homegirl of mine knew ‘Pac and she made the introduction and it was you know, what’s up, what’s happening…. He was real cool.” “It was an awesome night it was an awesome night,” Richardson said.
Delray continues with the story of August 11 1996 when he attended LL Cool J’s record release show.
“So, me Melle Mel, Scorpio and a couple of friends of ours, we going down to the house of blues, coming down the hill and Tupac pulled up in his black Rolls Royce and him and couple of Outlawz taking across the street like “Yo wassup Mel” ‘cuz Tupac profoundly respected Mel for being a hip hop legend”
“So we going around to get in the House Of Blues and a couple of the Outlawz I think Napoleon and someone else… but they was too young to get in. So we got in and ‘Pac was there like “you know we all together” so we walked upstairs to the foundation room backside of House Of Blues and one of the security dudes that was in charge walked up there with us and ‘Pac split them like $400 to let the Outlawz in, they were like 17”
In the interview, Richardson shares that there is an unknown photographer who made a picture of him and Tupac that same night.
Delray keep his story detailing the show in House Of Blues, pointing some of the attendance like Shok G, Kobe Bryant and the Tupac running into Nas story.
When they walked from the balcony to the downstairs, Nas was there and Pac and Nas were walking towards each other “everybody start looking like whatever- whatever. Later Delray realized that that night and the meeting of Pac and Nas was in one of Tupac’s songs “Ägainst All Ods”. “That night I profound Tupac was“
The next topic in the interview is related to the recently surfaced picture of Tupac, in his Hummer.
The songwriter reveals more information about the day that the photo was taken. August 16, 1996 driving by with two of his homegirls and then on Sunset Boulevard he saw the black Hummer “I was like I got Tupac right there” than Tupac took right to Fountain Ave.
“I’m like Yo ‘Pac these homegirls from Maryland they want to take picture with you and he was like “I can’t get out of the car”, you know “Cuz too much traffic” . So they stopped at the light one of the girls was taking a picture from the car, while the other one asked Tupac how many times he got shot (She meant Quad Studio Shooting) then Pac put out his hand like Five, and that’s the time when the girl with the camera took the picture exactly.
