DMX’s last interview before his tragic death is set to air on TV One’s ‘Uncensored’ series this month on Sunday (May 16, 2021) at 8 pm ET.
X sat down for an interview with Urban One Founder and Chairwoman Cathy Hughes and her team just three weeks before his death. The interview was about an hour long and it’s considered to be the last interview of DMX.
“DMX sat down with our team and was completely UNCENSORED. We have one hour with the late rapper in his own words. For DMX to be with us just three weeks before God called him home, I believe it’s truly divine intervention. I thank Nikki from SWIRL films for staying the course because he kept telling her ‘no’, but thankfully we were able to make it happen,” Cathy Hughes says about the interview.
“His family, fan club, friends, and supporters will be happy with the way he told his story for the last time. The two-part special will air directly before the annual Urban One Honors. I’m particularly excited because I feel like this will be the biggest night in TV One History,” Hughes added.
Shortly after the news for X’s final interview arrived, a trailer of the interview was uploaded by TV One.
Somewhere in the clip, we see the “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot” mastermind talking about the start of his career.
“At the same time I was launching my career, I had no idea we were also launching a movement,” DMX says in the interview.
“I’m gonna look back on my life before I go and thank God for every moment,” X adds.
Another upload on TV One’s official YouTube channel shows part of the interview where DMX tearfully tells a story when his mother surprised him during his therapy.
“It wasn’t a hurt cry. It was like yes, this is what I need,” DMX says.
