On the latest episode of LeBron James’ “The Shop: Uninterrupted” series on HBO, Jay-Z has shared an interesting story of the time he was sharing the stage with DMX.
Jay-Z has revealed that back in the days, he had to perform right after DMX, so he decided to go and watch X’s performance first.
With a smile on his face, Jigga recalled the incredible experience he had backstage, watching the late rapper doing what he’s best at.
“X is about to go, and I’m like, ‘I wanna see,’” Jay-Z started. “And he goes [growls], and the fucking arena goes crazy. First of all, it’s deafening, and I’m like, ‘Ohhh shit.’ He has a thing, like an Alize and Hennessey mix, it looks like blood, like he’s drinking blood, and he’s running back and forth [on the stage]. Halfway through the show, and then he takes his shirt. And the whole crowd goes wild. ‘Aaaaaah!’” Hov continued.
Later on, in the short snippet, Jay successfully explains how influential DMX was for the crowd that same night, taking them from screaming to crying with his prayer at the end.
“He’s going nuts, right? And I’m like, ‘Shit.’ First the guys are going crazy, now the girls are going crazy. And then he gets to the end, and he starts a prayer. And now they’re crying, the whole arena is crying. And then [backstage team] go, ‘OK, now you go.’” Jay-Z said.
