“LA Originals” Trailer Out Now With Eminem, Snoop Dogg & Cypress Hill
The long-awaited story of the two Chicano artists has just been announced on Wednesday (April 3rd) by the streaming giant Netflix. The upcoming documentary of the legendary tattooist Mister Cartoon and the hip-hop photographer Estevan Oriol is an interesting topic to explore. Especially when Eminem, Cypress Hill and Snoop Dog are involved.
But what is all the fuss for and what exactly made the two so famous? Real hip-hop fans remember that the albums that we used to buy before often had only a logo on the cover. Remember the Cypress Hill albums from the past? Yes, Cartoon did it. And not only that.
The path of art and fame and making money for them began a long time ago when they were just drawing. Marc Machado, which is the actual name of Mister Cartoon, says that his friendship with Oriol was always a source of numerous ideas, waiting to be released through their Soul Assassins studio. The success was not easy, at least until they were not noticed by the right people
Today almost every rap and hip-hop star have a Soul Assassins studio tattoo. Eminem, Snoop Dog, Method Man, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre and the late basketball star Kobe Bryant are just a small part of the team.
“They paved the way for a lot of people,” Snoop Dogg says in the LA Originals trailer for the artists.
In the 1 minute and 45 seconds-long video, we see the interesting fact that Cartoon did one of Eminem’s first tattoos.
Today it is a matter of prestige to have one of the Chicano style tattoos. Тhe two LA legends took this art to the next level and created an empire. The story is accompanied by footages of the hip-hop stars, interviewed and showing their tattoos. The Netflix documentary is directed by Estevan Oriol will be out officially on the 10th of April.
