Lil Wayne Mourns The Death Of A Police Officer Who Saved His Life

Lil Wayne mourns the death of the police officer who saved his life from suicide when he was a kid.

On Monday (July 25) “The Carter IV” mastermind went on social media and shared a tribute photo of Robert Hoobler (Uncle Bob) with an emotional caption.

“Everything happens for a reason. I was dying when I met u at this very spot. U refused to let me die. Everything that doesn’t happen, doesn’t happen for a reason. That reason being you and faith. RIP uncle Bob. Aunt Kathie been waiting for u. I’ll love & miss u both and live for us all.” Wayne wrote.

According to the sources, the late Robert Hoobler, a former police officer, was found dead at his home in Old Jefferson, Lousiana on Friday (July 22) at the age of 65.

Through the years Lil Wayne spoke about the 1994 accident several times. Weezy was only 12 at that time when Uncle Bob and 5 more police officers arrived at Weezy’s home in New Orleans after a call for a shooting.

There was no ambulance available, so Uncle Bob took the Young Money rapper to the back of his police car and drove him to the hospital. Weezy revealed that Hoobler didn’t leave him and waited in the emergency room until the medics ensured that Wayne would be ok.

“Stay awake, son. You’re going to be fine. You’ll see.”, Bob Hoobler told Wayne.

While speaking with Daily Mail in 2018, Lil Wayne revealed that Hoobler was the only cop who helped him back then.

“He didn’t drop me off at the ambulance and say, ‘You take him.’ He brought me to the hospital room and… stood there and waited until the doctor said, ‘He’s gonna make it,'” Wayne said. “He said, ‘Don’t worry, my name’s Uncle Bob.’ He was white as snow… I don’t know what racism is. I know a good motherf—r named Uncle Bob, though.”

In a 2021 interview on Uncomfortable Conversations with Emmanuel Acho, Wayne spoke once again about what happened back in 1994.

‘He picked me up and kept saying “You’re not gonna die on me.” And so he brought me to the hospital. I met him years later and he said to me, “I’m just happy to see I saved a life that mattered.”‘ –  Weezy added.
