The year 2020 was full of negative events all over the world and in the end, the Hip-Hop community was shocked by the bad news of MF DOOM dead at the age of 49, which came on Dec. 31.

MF DOOM has died two months ago on Halloween, but his family didn’t reveal the tragic news until December 31. With a post on social media, his wife Jasmine expressed her sorrow and love for her late husband, and this was the way the world found out that one of the most iconic rappers, known for his skillful wordplay, unique delivery style, and flow, and wearing a metal mask all the time, has passed away.

MF DOOM has influenced the rap music world, from the OGs to the new wave artists, his legacy is part of the culture.

While is still hard to believe, rappers from different ages showed some love to DOOM, expressing their pain and sorrow on social media.

Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) went on Instagram to share a post of him rapping over DOOM’s classic “ALL CAPS” which was released in MF DOOM’s 2004 masterpiece “Madvillain”.

MC Serch former member of the 3rd Bass, who was a close friend with MF DOOM since their early ages, also went on Instagram with a way-more personal message to the masses.

I found out 12/31/2020 at 3:30pm and cried for most of the day, I have known Doom since he was 14 years old. We spent years going to park jams at the MLK Center.” Serch started.

When Subroc died, at the funeral I could see where Doom and his family was. The path he took after that was dark but led him to being iconic. One of my favorite verses is in the @realghostfacekillah album with @badbadnotgood. His tone and flow was evidence of where he was in his life. I cannot believe that it has been 30 years since Mr Hood was released. There is so much I wanted to speak to him about and make amends.” – Serch continued in the post.

Lupe Fiasco, Q-Tip, Jay Electronica, and many more also mourned the late rapper on social media.
