Nipsey Hussle’s family and more specifically his brother, is taking legal actions against the Crips using “The Marathon Continues“ trademark. It is a well and widely known logo, which has been used for years, but the family of Nipsey is claiming this is not the right place for the slogan.
According to Samiel Asghedom, who is the brother of the dead rap star and representative of the family, the phrase was illegally used by Crips LLC over the years. Also, he says that the slogan has always been and will be connected to the life and legacy of Nipsey and nobody else.
According to the sources from TMZ, it is a fact that the Crips tried to occupy the trademarked slogan for the first time just a few months after Nipsey Hussle was shot back in 2019. Luckily, the family managed to secure the slogan and that is why now the LA street gang is considered to have taken illegal actions.
From the first time, the family filed the legal complaint, the lawsuit took different directions. The first reaction of the Crips in 2019 was to apologize to the family and told them that they will no longer use “The Marathon Continues“ slogan. In their turn, they just asked the family to withdraw their complaint and to consider it all over. Shortly after that, the Crips decided that the slogan is too precious for them and they came up with an official message to the press that they also have the right to use the slogan. Their reps shared the opinion that the sentence is now much more connected with their work than with the brand of the late rapper.
It looks like the family was not satisfied with the apology and especially Nipsey Hussle’s wife Lauren London, who is considered to be his official representative. She and the family not only want the gang to drop the slogan immediately, but to destroy everything that is produced and is using “The Marathon Continues“.
Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed on March 31, 2019, at the age of 33. He was shot almost ten times in the body on the parking lot in front of his Los Angeles-located clothing store – Marathon Clothing. The service brought together so many people, that the family should use The Staples Center.
