Swizz Beatz Pays Tribute To DMX With Billboard Music Awards Speech

During the 2021 Billboard Music Awards ceremony, Swizz Beatz gave a speech and took a moment to pay tribute to his friend, the late DMX, who passed away last month (April 9).

The event took place at Microsoft Theater in LA, on Sunday (May 23) and it was aired live on NBC at 8 PM ET.

During his short speech, before announcing the Top Rap Song winner, Swizz Beatz paid tribute to the life and legacy of the iconic rapper DMX.

This year in hip-hop has been really hard. We lost so many amazing souls. We would like to honor their lives, and I would like to honor my brother, DMX, the great,” Swizz said.

He made music with raw passion,” Swizz continued.

He spoke to the streets, he spoke to the world. He prayed for others before he could pray for himself. He loved others before he would love himself. His music is iconic magic to the world. Following Tupac, he is the second rapper to have two number one albums in one year. His legacy will forever be remembered,” Swizz said.

The posthumous album by DMX, Exodus is set for release on May 28, 2021. Since the event of the year is getting closer, Swizz hopped on Instagram to remind the fans what’s about to come with the highly anticipated new album by the late legend.
