Hip Hop veteran Tim Westwood is facing very serious accusations in court. The plaintiff is not one, but seven young black women, all of them stating Westwood took advantage of them sexually.
The DJ denies every accusation. The statement came out after he faced the allegations of predatory sexual behavior toward the young females. According to his words, all the statements are wrongful and have nothing to do with the truth. The statement came out following the investigations led by both very influential media – The Guardian and BBC. During that, it became clear that seven females – all of them in the age of their late teens and early twenties became victims of the DJ. In their accusations, they say he used his position in the music industry to take advantage of them. Some of the details, found during the investigation, date the first accusations even back in 1992 as the late accident with sexual harassment is from 2017.
As the accusations became more and more serious, the denial is also very strong. The representative of the British DJ states that during the whole forty years of his music career, Mr. Westwood has never faced such accusations and also never conducted bad behavior.
“Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour. In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing,” the representative added.
The accusations are separated into two main groups. Three women state that the DJ, who is now sixty-four years old, behaved opportunistically and sexually predatory toward them. They also said that he did that on a professional basis meaning that this happened during work. The age of these victims is 17, 19, and 20.
The other four of them said that Tim Westwood groped them while they were posing for a picture. No names are known as all the victims choose to stay anonymous.
The documentary series who are giving more light to the case – Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power – was aired on the 26th of April on the BBC Three. The movie came out with an official statement from the media that they are against any form of sexual misconduct.
The first accusations against the DJ came out in 2020. As they grew more and more, he was forced to make an official statement, because the case became viral.
