Cardi B becomes the first female rapper to earn a diamond-certified single with her hard-hitting 2017-released track “Bodak Yellow” from her debut album “Invasion Of Privacy”.
Cardi had a really special celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8) when she got surprised by Atlantic Records reps at a restaurant with the news that “Bodack Yellow” is the first-ever single by a female rapper.
The video, which was later deleted, shows Atlantic Records executives revealing the diamond plaque and Cardi’s reaction to the impressive milestone in her career.
RIAA made it all official on the next day (March 9), congratulating Cardi B on Twitter for her “Bodak Yellow” certified diamond.
“Congratulations to @iamcardib, the first female rapper to achieve a RIAA 💎 single award!” the tweet reads.
