The waiting is over, after 9 months without new music from the Dreamville’s boss, J. Cole returns with a new single “Snow On Tha Bluff“. The track came up as a surprise for the fans without any promo or announcement.
“Snow On Tha Bluff” is 3 minutes and 55 seconds-long track with just 1 verse, but so much meaning behind the lyrics. Awakened by the recent events and protests following the killing of George Floyd, Cole used the power of his words with skillful wordplay to address the current situation in the country. The track is produced by J and Kelvin Wooten a.k.a Wu10 and got the name of the 2011 documentary which tells the story of ATL drug dealer.
Addressing the criticism protestors and celebrities are facing, in the face of “young lady out there way smarter than me”, the KOD rapper shoots his shot.
“She mad my niggas, she mad at our ignorance, she wear her heart on her sleeve/She mad at the celebrities, low key I’m assuming she talking bout me.” Cole raps.
The “Middle Child” rapper was spotted at the peaceful protest in his hometown last month, supporting the Black Lives Matter idea and the fighters for social justice following the killing of George Floyd.
“Just ’cause you woke and I’m not, that shit ain’t no reason to talk like you better than me/
How you gon’ lead, when you attackin’ the very same niggas that really do need the shit that you sayin’?” J. Cole continues.
