Snoop Dogg is joining Def Jam Records as their new Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant.
Snoop Dogg is on top of the hip-hop game for so long. Since 1992, his colorful career went through many stages and areas. Now, as certified OG and with countless classic records behind his name, D-O-Double-G is taking a lead role in one of the most influential record labels ever.
Snoop went on Instagram to make the announcement with a short video.
“As a kid, as a young rapper, Def Jam Records was the holy grail of Hip-Hop,” Snoop says in the clip, which includes a montage of current and former Def Jam artists. “It was the label where all of the artists communicated [and] connected, put out great music, great videos, movies and they were always on tour together. They were always doing things together, they were like a family,” Snoop says in the video.
As Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant, Snoop will report directly to Def jam’s Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Harleston and Universal Music Group Chairman & CEO Sir Lucian Grainge.
Grainge expressed his excitement about working with the “Jin & Juice” creator.
“We’re thrilled that the one and only Snoop Dogg is bringing his deep industry experience, strong relationships, boundless creativity and infectious energy to Def Jam.”
With the new position, Snoop will be honored with the hard task to pick the right one while seeking new talents for the label. Bit his responsibilities don’t end there. Snoop will be consulting the label and curate the content produced by the company.
